About Bani

Astrology was a gift given to me by my father. In fact, some of my favourite memories involve the moments I was receiving this from him. But like many who are called to it, I was shy and kept a low profile about it. The conditioning many of us have in this world, ruled by logic and the left brain, is not to shine our light, and to blend in. 

But that’s exactly what Astrology is NOT. Jyotish, the Sanskrit word for the same, means to give light. To come out of the dark. To awaken. To embrace the truth. 

My name Bani, means Voice. When I became a news anchor with NDTV I found it interesting that I was in fact, using my voice for professional pursuit. However, it soon became clear to me that while I was using my voice and words, the song in my heart was a different one. As I tuned into that truth, I found an audience that wanted to listen. 

Jyotish is an ancient science, and we live in a modern world. I see this gap, where those skeptical of its scientific basis need to have it demystified for them. And those who believed blindly, need to understand that they are the ones in control of their destiny. Jyotish is the Science of Light with its backbone in the Law of Karma, the study of action and consequence, that has been reduced to using a birth chart to predict the future. It is not the study of the future, it is the study of the past. And it's true potential is in using that past karmic imprint to understand the infinite possibilities that lie ahead of you to create new ones. 

As I embraced this truth, I watched my life change. I realised that I could help so many more to do the same. My students and clients gave me the validation I needed, and today I have no doubt that this is my soul’s mission. I am forever grateful to all of you for that. 

Recently, I was awarded by FICCI for breaking barriers by reintroducing Indians to their proud heritage. While, I am honored and humbled to be recognized in this way, I am also excited at the possibilities that lie ahead not just for me, but for all of us! If such institutions can recognise the value of this work, then the collective consciousness of all of us together stands to rise, to be awakened to this knowledge.

To what, if not the light?

I am the daughter of a classical musician and teacher; wife of a global entrepreneur; a mother of two, and an alumnus of Welham Girls School, Lady Shri Ram College, and Cardiff University UK, and finally a Jyotish Acharya from Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan. And lastly, I am forever indebted to my Guru, Shri S. Ganesh for enlightening my path with the sanskars of Vedic culture, and to you, for allowing me to be your guide.
